Three New York–based art critics—Lilly Wei, Christopher Howard, and Hrag Vartanian—will discuss the state of art criticism today, how a young artist graduating with a MFA can gain traction through press coverage, the current relationship between artists and critics, and their observations on the art world in general.

The Professional Practice Series is a casual and informative platform open to the New York Academy of Art community and to the public. Each program begins with conversation between the lecturer and faculty member Sharon Louden, who organizes the series. The conclusion of each lecture is an opportunity for questions from audience.
