Christopher Howard/Index

The index to The Jean Freeman Gallery Does Not Exist (MIT Press, 2018) was compiled by the author. The book reconstructs the New York art world from roughly 1967 to 1975—its commercial galleries, art magazines, critics, collectors, movements, and the artists who moved through all of them. The index encompasses personal names, institutions, publications, artworks, exhibitions, movements, concepts, and places.

This excerpt covers letters A through C. Page numbers in italics refer to figures.
